Men With Older Brothers More Likely To Be Homosexual

The more older brothers a man has, the more likely he is to be gay.  That's according to new research that explores one of the possible biological factors in determining sexual attraction.  With each older brother, the chances of the younger sibling being gay appears to go up by about a 3rd.  It happens even if the brothers are raised apart but not with adopted brothers.  Scientists think that when a woman is pregnant with her first boy, a protein linked to the Y chromosome that only men have enters the blood.

The woman's body builds up antibodies to try to fight off what it sees as a foreign invader, antibodies that can enter the brain of subsequent male fetuses and possibly alter how it functions.  The study was published Monday in the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences."
