Kentucky Man Finds Deer Tick Attached To His Eyeball

A Kentucky man had to make an uncomfortable trip to the optometrist after a tick managed to attach itself to his eyeball. Chris Prater returned from a job site and started to experience pain in his eye. He thought it was just sawdust and tried to flush it out.

"The thing of it is, I really didn't want to go to the doctor. I figured if it was something it would come out on its own," Prater told WYMT.

After he failed to remove the irritant, he went to the doctor who told him that it wasn't sawdust, it was a small deer tick. The doctor numbed Prater's eye and used a pair of tweezers to pull it off.

"Once he grabbed hold of it and pulled it off, the tick made a, like a little popping sound when it comes off of my eye," Prater said.

Prater was sent home with antibiotics and steroid drops for his eye. He told the station that he sprays himself with tick repellent every day but joked: "You can't spray your eyes, so. Haha."
