One of President Donald Trump's personal valets has tested positive for COVID-19. The valet, who is a member of the U.S. Navy and works closely with the First Family, started showing symptoms on Wednesday (May 6) and was given a coronavirus test. President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were both tested as a precaution.
"We were recently notified by the White House Medical Unit that a member of the United States Military, who works on the White House campus, has tested positive for Coronavirus," Deputy White House Press Secretary Hogan Gidley said in a statement. "The President and the Vice President have since tested negative for the virus, and they remain in great health."
According to CNN, the White House uses a test from Abbott Labs, which can provide results in about 15 minutes. Trump, Pence, and other members of the senior staff are tested once a week for COVID-19.
