A Florida teacher was hoping to get a more extreme punishment for his sexual abuse crimes.
Thirty-two-year-old Mark Lua was sentenced to 12 years in prison at a Pensacola court for having sex with a minor, sexually assaulting an 18-year-old former student and soliciting an inappropriate video from another.
However, prosecutors say he petitioned the judge for chemical castration to avoid prison time and be able to raise his daughter.
Lua said he would even undergo physical castration to show how sorry he was for his crimes.
The judge instead decided on prison time along with 15 years of probation.
