Indians Bats Explode in a 10-1 Victory Over Phillies

CLEVELAND, OH -- Indians' rookie outfielder Oscar Mercado, who has been red-hot at the plate of late, continued his excellence with a 3-run blast to that put the tribe ahead by three runs. Yasiel Puig blew the doors off with a 3-run RBI double in the the 7th inning, giving the Indians an 8-1 lead. The hometown tribe cruised to a 10-1 victory over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies as they move into a tie for the second spot in the American League wildcard hunt.

Carlos Carrasco was called upon in the 5th inning with runners on the corners and one out, as he forced Philadelphia backstop J.T. Realmuto into a double play to get out of the inning unscathed. Carrasco lasted 2 1/3 innings, giving up 0 runs, as he made his longest relief appearance since being diagnosed with cancer in the midseason.

The Cleveland Indians received positive news on the injury front, as third basemen Jose Ramirez is expected to make a return to the tribe lineup on Tuesday night against the Chicago White Sox. Ramirez was injured in August with a broken right hand.

The tribe will have a much needed off day on Monday before heading to Chicago to take on the White Sox in a three-game series. Game one of the series will take place on tuesday evening, as tribe hurler Mike Clevinger will take on Chicago's Hector Santiago. First pitch on Tuesday evening will be at 8:10 pm ET at Guaranteed Rate Field in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. Check out highlights of tonight's game below!
