The FBI has located the individual behind a threat to attack synagogues in New Jersey. FBI agents spoke to the person, who was not identified, and said he holds "radical extremist views" but "no longer poses a danger to the community."

Police believe he was acting alone but are still investigating the case. It is unclear what charges, if any, he is facing.

According to CNNthe man posted on a forum used by extremists, which was flagged by the FBI because it was written as if the attack had already happened. Other active shooters have written similar notes before their attacks.

The post prompted the agency to issue a rare public warning about the potential threat. Federal and state law enforcement officials worked with community members and religious leaders across the state to increase security as they investigated the threat.

"Each and every law enforcement agency in New Jersey stood up yesterday to protect and communicate with our Jewish neighbors against hate," New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said in a statement. "From direct contact to synagogue leadership to uniformed and non-uniformed police presences at places of worship, our State Police, federal partners, county prosecutor's officers, local police departments, sheriffs, and other law enforcement moved swiftly to protect synagogues and Jewish centers."
