COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Ohio Secretary of State Frank Larose has announced he is running for US Senate in 2024.

The Republican is in his 2nd term in his current position, originally winning the seat in 2018, and is the 3rd entry into the GOP primary for the US Senate race.

LaRose's candidacy joins State Senator Matt Dolan, and businessman Bernie Moreno for the Republicans. Both Moreno and Dolan ran back in 2022, in the race eventually won by JD Vance. That was for the seat vacated by the retirement of Rob Portman.

Incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown is up for re-election next year, and is completing his 3rd term in the upper chamber.

LaRose's career in Ohio politics began with a seat in the Ohio Senate from northeast Ohio, which he originally won in 2010.
