Dan Rivers announced on Monday November 11th that his final daily broadcast on 570 WKBN will be Wednesday November 27th.
Dan has been a fearless champion for the Mahoning Valley, offering not only his voice, but countless hours of charitable work. He has been a daily companion to thousands of listeners, and as best as we can tell, he has held this role longer than any other talk show host in America.
Dan’s dedication to the Valley is second to that of his country. As we celebrate those who served on this Veteran’s Day, we’re reminded that Dan served two tours in Vietnam. He returned home to graduate from Youngstown State University and began his daily broadcasts on WKBN in 1981.
This is not retirement for Dan. He will continue to be part of the 570 WKBN family. After taking time off for the holidays, he’ll return as an occasional fill in host for Ron Verb, heard weekday afternoon 3-7 on 570 WKBN. Dan will also launch a new podcast, where he’ll offer commentary on the Valley, and celebrate the great days ahead for Youngstown. He’ll continue to be heard speaking on behalf of dozens of local businesses as a trusted spokesperson.
The public will be invited to a celebration of his career in an open house during his final daily broadcast.
