MANY WOMEN OVER 25 PLANNING TO HAVE KIDS ARE POSTPONING STARTING A FAMILY TO FOCUS ON CAREERS (CareerBuilder/ PR Newswire)A poll of 2,391 hiring and human resource managers and 5,411 employees reveals the following:
- 83% of female respondents over age 25 who plan to have children are postponing their family to focus on their career (79% of men said the same)
- 50% of women and 53% of men said their top reason for waiting was to earn and save enough money to provide for their family
- 28% of women and 33% of men said their waiting in order to become more established and get ahead in their career
- 15% of women (& 30% of men) said they are waiting until at least age 35 to start a family
- 63% (& 64% of men) say they are waiting until at least age 30
