FEWER AMERICANS WANT TO TRAVEL TO CUBA THIS YEAR (Allianz Global Assistance/ PR Newswire)A poll of 1,514 U.S. adults reveals the following:
- 40% said they'd be interested in taking a trip to Cuba (down from 42% who said the same a year ago)
- 26% say they want to go due to the easing of travel restrictions (down from 35% who said the same in 2016)
- 76% said they are unlikely to begin planning a trip to Cuba (up from 70% in 2016)
- 38% say they have safety concerns about visiting Cuba (down from 44% in 2016)
- 12% have a fear about communist government (down from 15% in 2016)
- 22% are concerned about lack of information on Cuba's travel experience (up from 18% in 2016)
- 13% are worried about Cuba's travel infrastructure (up from 12% in 2016)
- 9% are worried about Cuba's internet/mobile connectivity (up from 7% in 2016)
- Among those interested in traveling to Cuba, 32% are drawn by the resorts and beaches
- 23% are interested in Cuba's cultural attractions
