Google you're fired

Nearly two weeks ago I wrote about discharging "Google". In part below is what I said at the time.

"Over the weekend, I said goodbye to "Google". It was hard to break up with her, because she kept pulling me back. Finally, I bravely excised her from my life. With a final push of the button, my desktop changed quickly. All hell broke loose. She is vengeful and she is spiteful. When she left, she took Dr. Dave, The Pulse of Radio, two info sheets that I subscribe to.

She walked out with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Workday, Amazon and anyone else she had eve had contact with, in my computer. She took them all away like a jilted, vengeful lover. She even wiped out I Heart Web mail. Now that's war, how can I communicate with my corporate minders?"

Today, I can report that life is better without Google. Yes, they have a great product, UTube is my favorite. If you are using their search engine you can function with others. Google constantly nags you to be her slave as in "Default" browser.

I broke away and became acquainted with her cousins Yahoo, Fox Fire and a conservative engine called "Tusk". I broke away because the Google search engine gave me an error message with no resolution.

I think it's healthy to find different engines in which you conduct searches. Google has become the generic term for search and that is unhealthy. Just as we only shop on Amazon because it's convenient. We have far too much dependency on just a few. We are in an oligopoly heading for a monopoly. Diversify, for the good of the order.
