I don’t regularly listen to Jason Whitlock, but when I do, I find his honesty quite refreshing.
Recently, Whitlock discussed a press conference held by Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime. Sanders appeared at the press conference defensive, wearing dark sunglasses, mumbling, and reading from a list of people who had helped him. His demeanor towards the reporters was notably hostile.
One reporter from CBS News was particularly affected; Sanders refused to answer his question solely because of the CBS affiliation. Whitlock speculated that this reaction was due to CBS's ranking Sanders among the lowest coaches in his league.
The most concerning part of Sanders' behavior was his reaction to a reporter’s inquiry about strengthening the offensive line. Sanders became defensive and asked what "bolster" meant, claiming he didn’t use that word. When the reporter rephrased the question, saying, “You beefed up the offensive line,” Sanders still took issue and demanded the reporter phrase it as “You’ve improved the offensive line.”
The reporter then asked how Sanders planned to build chemistry within the offensive line. Sanders responded by questioning the term "chemistry" and accusing the reporters of overusing it. He even turned to the entire press corps and challenged them to define the term, to which no one replied. Sanders then remarked that the reporters clearly didn’t like each other, making it one of the strangest press conferences I’ve ever heard.
Given Sanders’ bizarre behavior, I would be very surprised if he doesn’t cause significant issues for Colorado.
How did the decision makers at Colorado miss Sanders' complete lack of class and decorum in representing the school and football team?
