The Guardians got the brooms out in Detroit and swept the Tigers out of Comerica Park, beating Detroit 3-1 Thursday afternoon. Tanner Bibee matched AL Cy Young favorite Tarik Skubal, throwing six innings of one-run baseball and striking out eight.
Colt Keith got the scoring started in the second with an RBI double, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. The Guardians evened things up in the fourth with a solo home run from Jhonkensy Noel. All Star third baseman Jose Ramirez put Cleveland on top for good with a two-run home run of his own. Hunter Gattis worked a perfect ninth for his third save of the season.
After their seventh win in a row, the Guardians now sit 3.5 games behind the Tigers in the AL Central race and 1.5 games behind the Red Sox with ten games to go.
