Good News: Officer Buys Shoes For Man Barefoot On Hot Concrete

A Chattanooga, Tennessee police officer who helped a man down on his luck is being praised for going the extra mile.

Officer Chad Yates responded to a call about a man in a parking lot and when he arrived, he found the guy standing barefoot on hot concrete.

Yates says the man had some cardboard to stand on to keep his feet from being burned, but no shoes.

The officer says he’s met this man before and knows his name is Marion and since the concrete he was standing on was scalding hot, he found out Marion’s shoe size and ran down to the Goodwill store to buy him a pair of shoes. He says Marion expressed his sincere gratitude and went on his way.

Several people witnessed the act of kindness and have posted about itonline, but Yates says he wasn’t doing it for the praise. He explains, “To be able to make a difference for that guy, in his life, or just that day, it just felt good for me.”
